This piece is the second in a series of experiments with inkblots translated into stained glass patterns. I was inspired by the pattern of a Picasso Beetle which reminded me of Rorschach Inkblot tests so I decided to do an experiment. I spilled some ink, folded the paper in half, traced the shapes I found in the ink and repeated the pattern in a circle divided by 3 axis.
I chose analogous colors to loosely represent the shapes I saw in the two colors of ink mixing together. I wanted all the colors to be equally saturated to create an ambiguous depth of field with no foreground or background, just colors and patterns. Abstract but still representing an index of a fast and random gesture.
