Neutral Colored Sea Urchin Study

$720.00

This piece is the first in a series of studies in form and patterns inspired by sea urchin shells. I wanted to use the shapes and colors found in beautiful natural forms without necessarily representing the forms directly. I loved the symmetry of shapes and how the shapes and forms all radiated from a center point. I used some of my favorite “Mottled” glass (spotted glass) and based the rest of the colors off of that. It is made entirely out of Bullseye Glass and is designed to hang on the wall although it looks great in the window as well! All of the glass has a firey colored sparkle when backlit and takes on a whole new personality! I left the solder silver and did some decorative soldering to add visual interest and sparkle and to reference the knobby texture that the shells have. This piece is an original hand-drawn pattern made entirely by me, Pico!
