This piece is made up of over 140 inividually hand-cut and fitted pieces of glass. The clear colored scrolls that make up the “flower” shape have a beautiful hammered texture that captures the light with a dappled effect and it is also iridescent so at the right angle it has a rainbow bubble-like effect. The background glass is also special because when backlit with a shady environment it glows blue and periwinkle like twilight but the same glass backlit with a sunny environment it takes on a warmer color palate of creams mauves and almost a brown color. The grain of the texture of this glass was cut intentionally so it radiates outward from the center piece. The “English Muffle” textured pink border and other shapes along with the Cornflower Blue Rough Rolled texture shapes add visual interest and compliment the background swirly glass in both lightning situations. This piece took 26 hours to create and is completely analog and hand made by Pico.
